On-line Developmental Screening

Posted on Jan 4, 2008

The state of Massachusetts has now mandated the use of standardized developmental screening tools at every pediatric well visit.  The Academy of Pediatrics has been promoting the use of more formal developmental screening of infants and toddlers for a number of years.  This was being geared specifically towards identifying autism and other forms of developmental delay at as early an age as possible.  This is something we have always done as part of our well visit care for infants and younger children but we will now be expanding to all our visits.

To try to accomplish this goal, we have placed most of our screening tools on this website.  They can be found under the "Forms" section on our site.  Some of what we use at some ages cannot be done electronically and these will be done in our office at the time of your visit.

In the past we have used the Ages and Stages Questionnaire series for ages 4 to 60 months but we will unfortunately use less of this now that we will be doing the in-office screens.  These are still on our website, but due to copyright issues, this section is password-protected and is only available for our patients' use.   This questionnaire series is much more detailed and requires parents to do specific testing at home with their children.  It is not something we can do in the office, but these are wonderful home evaluations you can do and we invite you to still use them if you have interest in this.  Please call our office and we will supply you with the necessary log-in information.
